Welcome to Heart Failure Hub Scotland

Welcome to our data, research and innovation page, showcasing the pivotal contributions made by Scotland to advancements in this field

Here, you’ll find information about trials and audits that drive improvements in heart failure diagnosis, treatment, and patient care. Scotland’s rich tradition of heart failure research has led to significant developments and evidence-based practices.  These resources will soon be available to keep healthcare professionals and the public informed about clinical trials currently recruiting and examples of change to enhance service provision as well as updates from the Scottish Cardiac Audit Programme.

National Heart Failure Audit

A national heart failure for Scotland audit is in development. However, information form the England and Wales audit can provide information on key learning points for secondary care.

Scottish Cardiac Audit Programme

The Scottish Cardiac Audit Programme (SCAP) was set up to support the delivery of Priority 4 of the Heart disease action plan 2021. This priority covers the effective use of data.
SCAP has published data relating to cardiac interventions undertaken in Scotland:

  • congenital heart disease
  • adult percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)
  • transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI)
  • adult cardiac surgery
  • cardiac rhythm management
  • structural heart intervention

SCAP is developing a heart failure audit and we will update this section with more information in due time.
